[00:00:00] You know that moment when someone asks you for a marketing agency recommendation and you freeze up because there are just so many options out there? Well, I've been getting this question for years. Neal, who would you recommend for SEO? Do you know a good video production agency? Can you suggest a reliable Facebook advertising partner? And honestly, it was becoming one of the most frequent conversations I was having with fellow marketers and business leaders.
[00:00:25] So I decided to do something about it. I partnered with the industry leader in agency directories to create something I wish I had years ago. 12 curated lists of agencies that I actually recommend based on real results, not just flashy websites. We're talking about a complete game changer for how you find and vet potential agency partners. So stay tuned for the details on this next episode of the Your Digital Marketing Coach podcast.
[00:00:56] Digital, Social Media, Content Influencer, Marketing, Blogging, Podcasting, Vlogging, Tiktok, LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, SEO, SEM, PPC, Email Marketing. There's a lot to cover. Whether you're a marketing professional, entrepreneur, or business owner, you need someone you can rely on for expert advice. Good thing you can rely on for expert advice. Good thing you've got Neil on your side.
[00:01:24] Because Neil Schaefer is your digital marketing coach. Helping you grow your business with digital first marketing, one episode at a time. This is your digital marketing coach. And this is Neil Schaefer. Hey friends, welcome back to your digital marketing coach podcast with your digital marketing coach, Neil Schaefer.
[00:01:51] And on today's episode number 432, I'm excited to share something that I've been working on behind the scenes that I think is going to make your life as a marketer or business owner significantly easier. But before we dive in, let me ask you a question. When was the last time you needed to find an agency for a specific marketing need? Maybe it was SEO, maybe social media management, or perhaps you needed help with lead generation or content marketing.
[00:02:19] Now, how did that search process go for you? If you're like most businesses, it probably involved hours of Googling, reading through countless websites that all seem to promise the same results, and maybe feeling a little overwhelmed by just how many options are out there. Now, I know this pain point intimately because as a fractional CMO and digital marketing consultant, I get asked about agency recommendations constantly. And I mean constantly. At least a few times a week, someone reaches out with some variation of,
[00:02:49] Neil, do you know a good agency for X where X could be anything from video production to WordPress development to influencer marketing? Now, here's the thing about my work as a fractional CMO. I work with two types of clients. The first group wants to build in-house expertise. They want to develop their own team's capabilities and manage all of their digital marketing internally. But the second group, they prefer to outsource certain aspects of their digital marketing to specialized agencies.
[00:03:16] Now, both approaches can be incredibly effective, but that second group always faces the same challenge. How do you find the right agency partner? And let me tell you, this isn't just about finding any agency. It's about finding the right agency. The one that understands your industry, fits your budget, communicates in a way that works for you, and most importantly, can actually deliver results. Because we've all heard the horror stories, right? The agency that promised the world but delivered generic campaigns.
[00:03:43] The SEO company that used outdated tactics and actually hurt your rankings. The social media agency that didn't understand your brand voice at all. So after years of fielding these questions and seeing both the successes and disasters that come from agency partnerships, I decided I needed to do something more systematic about it. But that's where today's announcement comes in. And let me tell you, this is something that I was thinking about launching on my own website many, many, many years ago.
[00:04:12] So because I never did it and I've always wanted to do it, I have partnered with Clutch to create 12 curated directories of agencies that I personally recommend. Now, if you're not familiar with Clutch, let me give you some context. They are the leading B2B ratings and review platform, connecting over 12 million business buyers with vetted service providers annually.
[00:04:35] They have over 350,000 service providers in their database across 157 countries. Essentially, they're the place where buying decisions are made in the B2B service world. But here's what makes this partnership special. These aren't just Clutch's standard directories with my name slapped on them. They gave me the freedom to personally curate each of these 12 lists.
[00:05:00] In fact, they gave me the freedom to create whatever list that I wanted to that I thought would be relevant for you, my listeners, my followers, my readers, my clients. So I went through providers. I looked at their track records, examined their client feedback, confirmed their specialties and experience, and selected agencies that I would actually recommend to my own clients and network. So let me walk you through what I've created. So I mentioned we have 12 different directories.
[00:05:28] So let's start with my top digital marketing agencies. These are results-driven agencies that have been carefully vetted for their track record in driving measurable growth. We're talking about full funnel strategies, ROI-focused campaigns, and conversion-driven creative. Many offer custom-built growth frameworks and proven processes that eliminate the guesswork. These aren't just agencies that just talk a good game.
[00:05:55] They really know how to drive qualified traffic, better leads, and real revenue growth. So the second directory is of the best SEO companies. Now here's the thing about SEO. As you know, organic search is one of the few channels that your business can truly own, but it takes more than quick fixes. These partners know how to build search visibility that lasts, using proven strategies that keep you ahead of constant algorithm changes.
[00:06:22] What sets them apart is how they connect every optimization and link-building effort to real business outcomes. If your rankings have slipped or you're ready to invest in content that builds long-term authority, these are your people. All right, third, we have leading AI development companies. AI can open entirely new revenue streams or drain your budget if it's poorly planned. These companies bring together engineering depth with a pragmatic approach that balances innovation
[00:06:51] with measurable business impact. From fine-tuning large language models to building robust machine learning ops pipelines, yes, that is a thing. They know how to turn complex ideas into production-ready systems that actually scale. They're equipped to take you from prototype to real-world results without nasty surprises. All right, number four. And really, you know, the idea behind these 12 directories are what is,
[00:07:19] or I should say, what are the needs that any business might have from a digital marketing perspective vis-a-vis what types of agencies they may want to have a relationship with based on their needs? Obviously, every company's needs is very different, but that is why these 12 are really divided into what I believe are the must-have categories. The fourth must-have category is video production. So that's why I have created a directory for creative video production agencies.
[00:07:47] Now, we all know that video has the power to stop the scroll and breathe real life into your brand story, but creating video that performs requires more than just good equipment. These agencies pair cinematic craft with commercial strategy. They understand your audience, your channels, and how each piece of content fits into your marketing funnel. From polished corporate videos to viral social content,
[00:08:13] they handle everything in-house to take viewers from curious to clicking to buying. All right, the fifth directory should come as no surprise, strategic social media marketing agencies. Social media moves fast. Trends change overnight. Algorithms shift constantly. These agencies don't just push posts. They design full funnel strategies that build brand communities and optimize paid ads for measurable impact.
[00:08:39] They watch the data and adapt quickly, like you should, as a best practice. Whether you need TikTok campaigns that resonate with Gen Z, or Instagram retargeting to drive sales, or even potentially LinkedIn outreach. Now, I'll have a separate category related to that in a moment. These experts know each platform's nuances and what works right now.
[00:08:59] So speaking of LinkedIn outreach, the concept of a lead generation partner I think is also a must-have if you are especially a B2B organization. Obviously, lead generation happens in B2C as well. So the right lead gen partner, and this is the sixth category for which I have built a directory for, the right lead gen partner does more than fill your pipeline. They help you build a repeatable, scalable system that drives real growth. Now, these firms blend strategic outreach with inbound expertise,
[00:09:29] booking qualified appointments and managing cold outreach that cuts through the noise. They understand your ideal customer profile along with your sales playbook, and bring the tech stack to track results. That means less time for you chasing dead leads and more deals in your pipeline. So seventh, we have trusted e-commerce development companies. A great e-commerce site isn't just about beautiful product pages.
[00:09:55] It's a performance engine that works 24-7 to turn visitors into buyers. So these developers, they understand the marketing side, but they also understand speed, scalability, and security. So whether you're launching your first Shopify store or expanding with headless e-commerce, they ensure your tech stack works seamlessly. They optimize for page speed and checkout flow so you don't lose buyers at the last click. All right, we are now at eighth.
[00:10:23] And eighth is going to be, if I talk about e-commerce, on the other side of website development, we would talk about WordPress development companies. Now, these aren't your typical theme-based developers. They know how to push WordPress way beyond its basics with custom themes, advanced plugins, and tight third-party integrations that run fast, stay secure, and scale as you grow. They don't just launch your site and walk away. They maintain, secure, and optimize it so you're ready for whatever comes next.
[00:10:53] Ninth, we have content marketing. Now, as you know, create content isn't just about filling up your blog or your library of content. It truly shapes your brand, fuels your SEO, and turns browsers into buyers. So these agencies don't stop at blog posts. They look at the entire customer journey. They map your entire content ecosystem from pillar pages to newsletters, video scripts, and PR stories that earn real organic backlinks.
[00:11:20] They understand how content fits into every stage of your buyer's journey, making each piece work harder for you. So we covered search and social. Obviously, tenth, we have to cover email marketing agencies. And yes, they do exist. Because email isn't just another channel. When done well, it really is the workhorse of digital marketing, driving real ROI and long-term customer loyalty. These agencies don't stop at nice templates.
[00:11:47] They plan robust automation flows, craft smart segmentation, and ensure deliverability so your messages reach the right inboxes. They know how to turn signups into customers and customers into loyal fans. All right. Eleventh, we have one of my favorites, influential influencer marketing agencies. As you know, real influencer marketing isn't about paying for shoutouts.
[00:12:12] It is about building genuine trust and connection that sparks engagement and drives measurable results. These agencies know how to match your brand with the right voices, whether that's nano influencers for hyperlocal buzz or big name creators with millions of followers. They handle everything from vetting to performance tracking, turning influencer marketing into a true growth engine, not just a budget line item. And finally, when I was thinking about what that 12th category might be,
[00:12:41] I realized that when we talk about paid digital marketing, that Facebook ads really is its own platform. And therefore, I created a directory of preferred Facebook advertising partners. Facebook is still one of the most powerful engines for digital growth if you know how to use it right. These agencies run ads, build smart data-driven campaigns that target your most valuable audiences.
[00:13:07] They'll help you outsmart Facebook's algorithm, test new creatives, refine targeting, and squeeze more from your budget. With them, your ads, in addition to getting clicks, are going to drive real revenue that you can count on. Now, what I love about how I've structured these directories, each one includes agencies from different locations, different niches or specialties within that specialty, and different price points. So whether you're a startup with a limited budget or an enterprise brand with complex needs,
[00:13:37] there's a vetted option for you. I made sure there's literally something for everyone. Now, the process I used to curate these lists combined Clutch's robust data collection with my own industry observations and experience working with clients and agencies over the years. I looked at client results, communication style, pricing transparency, specialization depth, and overall reputation in the industry. Now, these directories aren't set in stone.
[00:14:06] The marketing industry will continue to evolve constantly. New agencies emerge, existing ones pivot their services, and best practices change. And that's why I'm treating these as living resources. I'll be updating these lists regularly as I discover new talent and as marketing trends shift. Now, what I'm really excited about is how this solves one of the biggest time wasters in marketing, the endless research phase when you're trying to find the right partner.
[00:14:34] So instead of spending weeks sorting through countless options, you now have a clear vetted starting point. You still need to do your due diligence, of course, but you're starting with a much stronger foundation. Now, before I forget, obviously, the links to all 12 directories will be in the show notes. But if you go to neilshafer.com slash clutch, that's C-L-U-T-C-H, you will be able to see basically the hub page, which has links to all these 12 directories, and pick the ones that you want to check out.
[00:15:03] So once again, that is neilshafer.com, N-E-A-L-S-C-H-A-F-F-E-R.com slash clutch, C-L-U-T-C-H. So this partnership with Clutch is really about our shared mission, making it easier for businesses to connect with trusted experts. When I look at the marketing landscape, there's so much noise, so many agencies promising the world, and it's generally hard for business leaders to make confident, informed decisions about who to partner with,
[00:15:31] especially if you don't have any agency relationships. Or maybe you want to invest in a new technology for which you need to find a new agency partner that has that specialized expertise. So these directories are designed, as I mentioned, to cut through the noise and give you confidence in your selection process. They're about reducing risk and saving time, two things that are incredibly value when you're trying to grow a business.
[00:16:01] Now, I want to be clear about something. I'm not saying every agency on these lists is perfect for every situation. Fit matters enormously in agency relationships, culture, communication style, industry experience, budget alignment. All these factors play a role in whether a partnership will be successful. What I'm saying is that every agency on these lists has demonstrated the capability to deliver real results for their clients, and each directory has dozens of agencies for you to choose from.
[00:16:30] You know, with my wife and I, whenever we purchase anything, we always go through a process of getting quotes from three different companies, right? And I'm hoping that you use these directories in the same way, but it'll definitely make finding those three agencies a lot quicker. I also want to mention that this is just the beginning. As I get feedback from my community about your experiences with these agencies, and as I discover new agencies in the marketplace, these directives will evolve. I'm hoping this becomes a true community resource
[00:17:00] where we're all helping each other make better agency selection decisions. So once again, go to neilshafer.com slash clutch, C-L-U-T-C-H, where you can find all 12 directories linked from that hub page, and you can dive into whichever category is most relevant to your current needs, or look for this specific category listing in the show notes. All right, before we wrap up, I have two asks for you. First, if you've worked with an amazing agency
[00:17:29] that you think should be considered for future updates to these directories, I want to hear about it. Send me an email or connect with me on LinkedIn. Tell me about your experience. I'm always looking to discover great partners that might not be on my radar yet. Second, if you represent an agency listening to this and you think you should be considered for these directories, I'd love to learn more about your work. Reach out to me with information about your services, case studies, and client results. I'm always open to discovering new talent.
[00:17:58] The reality is that great agency partnerships when you have the right one can be transformational for businesses. I've seen companies accelerate their growth dramatically when they find the right specialized partner. But I've also seen companies waste significant time and money on partnerships that weren't the right fit. My hope is that these curated directories will tip the scales more towards those successful partnerships. By starting with a vetted list of proven performers, you're much more likely to find an agency
[00:18:28] that can actually move the needle for your business. And yes, as a fractional CMO, helping you find that right agency, helping you develop a strategy of how to manage that agency is also part of the scope of work that I do as well. So if you want to take this further off your plate, feel free to reach out to me. Go to neilschafer.com slash CMO to find out more about my fractional CMO work and actually schedule a free 30-minute consultation with me through that link that you will find there.
[00:18:57] So as we wrap up today's episode, I just want to emphasize that this partnership with Clutch represents something I am genuinely excited about. It's not about creating a bunch of directories, which is something I always wanted to do, right? But it's really about solving this real problem that I see marketers and business leaders struggle with constantly or making the wrong decisions without struggling enough. So the agency landscape is only going to get more crowded and complex,
[00:19:25] especially with the emergence of AI and a whole new generation of agencies I see emerging. Having a trusted source for recommendations is going to become even more valuable. My commitment to you is to keep these directories current, relevant, and genuinely helpful as we navigate this evolving landscape together. So here's what I want you to do after listening to this episode. Head over to neilschafer.com slash clutch and explore these directories. Bookmark that page because I have a feeling
[00:19:55] you'll be coming back to it whenever you need a trusted agency partner. All the links, as I mentioned before, will also be in the show notes if you prefer to access them that way. So check out those directories. Let me know what you think. And more importantly, let me know about your experiences if you end up working with any of these recommended agencies. Your feedback will help make this resource better for everyone. Well, that's a wrap for today's episode of Your Digital Marketing Coach.
